FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a Live Painting?
A live painting is a painting that is created to the energy and music felt in the room. It is not pre-planned or copied.
How long does it take?
For a 48" x 60" canvas, it takes approximately 2.5 hours minimum to complete in front of an audience. It takes approximately 8 hours of onsite and offsite preparation, including painting the sides of the canvas, as well as mixing up all the paints necessary to be ready to go. If you are doing a live painting, you don't have any time to mix colors or squeeze the paint you need out of paint tubes. Everything has to be ready to go!
Why a live painting?
Live paintings are fun to watch, as the audience has something to focus on while watching a live music show or fundraiser.
How much do you charge to do a live painting?
The price I charge includes, preparation time, cost of supplies, etc.

Can we tell you what to paint?
Yes and no. Yes, because you can tell me what theme you want and the style you are looking for. No, because with only 3 hours to paint, there is not much time to copy any images or do an exact replica of something (besides, thats no my style). Example, at a Syria benefit, I was asked to paint something that the audience would like. The majority of the audience were from Syria, therefore, I painted scenery that depicted Damascus. In other words, the best thing to do is to know your audience. If I'm at a boat convention, I will probably be painting something that has sailboats in it. Since I never really paint sailboats, I will be doing my homework ahead of time to figure out how to draw them really well so when it comes time to doing the live painting, I can put a sailboat in without looking at anything.
So, yes tell me what you want in the painting and I will put it in, but I can't tell you where exactly in the painting it might be.

An example of a very customized Live Painting:
For Weddings, you may want elements of the bride and groom embedded into the live painting. This can be done but must be well thought out ahead of time, and must be starting way ahead of time, leaving the background for the live painting part.
